We check out of the lodge tomorrow morning and we have made a plan (and I love plans lol). We are going to climb Chimney Rock as part of a guided tour and then head to Taos, New Mexico. In Taos, we are looking at several options including Horseback riding/rafting excursion, ski lift trip up the mountain, and some ranch with alpacas (some kind of llama animal). Durango was a neat town but definitely larger than Pagosa and more commercialized. Pagosa is unique in that no large companies have come in a taken over the town -- it's all quaint local-owned shops. We wanted to ride the train from Durango to Silverton but it was an all-day excursion and we had missed the last train.
